【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversfourproceduresfordeterminingthemachinedirectionofmostgradesofpaperandpaperboard,embodyingtheprinciplethatmachinedirectionalignmentoffibersresultsin:Cross-directionshrinkagetoproducecurlwithaxisinmachinedirection,Highercross-directiontear,Highertensilestrengthinmachinedirection,andHigherstiffnessinmachinedirection.Applicationoftheproceduresinthismethodtocertaingradesofpaper,suchassheetslaminatedtofilm,crepedpapers,extensiblepapers(whereitisnotunusualforthemachinedirectiontensiletoberelativelylowandthestretchtoberelativelyhigh)andpapersreinforcedwithtextilematerials,mayresultinunreliabledeterminations.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
